Lion Chirp

I need more chipmunk voice. Because it’s better than a cowbell. (Thank you SNL for my ancient reference that the kids these days won’t understand)

I’m love the catchy beat with chirpy vocals and a subtle delicate piano that just creeeeEEEEeps in and out.  Really appreciate the build LION KINGS created with this one, expertly layering in more sounds without being overwhelming or cluttered, which I think is hard to do with a vocal sample like that (chipmunk winnnn!!) Then, like a glorious fart in a spring breeze, the bass drifts away to reveal them lovely piano notes I was diggin’ earlier.

Gonna keep an eye on you LION KINGS, I expect much more glory!!

Open Up Your…

EYES. …Open up your EYES people.

Yet another lyrics piece by yours truly.  This is a particularly mesmerizing remix by CHIEFS which Epoch played during their fantastic set at Alive! which re-triggered my addiction to it.

Per the usual, I played this song on repeat for like 6 bazillion times while I attempted to create a babe as enticing as this song is to me. Hope you enjoy!

Creepy Paranoia

So, this song starts off all sweet and pretty sounding.  It was a lovely little melody while I scurried around my room trying to organize and pack for LA Bequinox tomorrow.  Then suddenly shit starts gettin weird and I had to put down my pile of crap I was clutching and check it out.  This glorious shift occurs around 2:30 with these haunting echoes, creepy high pitches and perfect riser to seal the deal.   Eerie sounds mixed with beautiful vocals, is so right up my alley.  (I miiiight just have to make some art to this when I return from dying in the desert for 5 days.)

I will be creepily stalking SAFIA now on soundcloud…and maybe right outside their house because I feel quite so inspired by this song to just get freakin weird.  See you soon SAFIA!

Hybrid Babies

I like a lot of things.. wacky samples, outlandish remixes, chipmunk voices and unique sounds to name a few, but another thing I like, is when someone creates a hybrid baby with flavors of other artists I like.

This right here, is a perfect example of old school Polish Ambassador and Pretty Lights making an adorably funky baby with Cosby Sweater.  There’s a difference between replicating someone else’s sound and creating something beautiful and new with potential influences from other artists.  That’s something quite challenging but very rewarding if accomplished.  I like that Cosby Sweater broke away from the original (by Break Science) enough to create a new song with a completely different feel, as the original has a glitchy or gritty feel to it (kinda like Phutureprimitive got involved with the hybrid baby making), but Cosby Sweater turned it’s direction much more to the funk side. Definitely love both versions!

Fun stuff kids!!!

LV THS SHT

Anything that Flux Pavilion supports, I’m pretty sure I’ll support!  So when I saw he reposted this track I was thinkin it’d be good and DAMN!  This song is so freakin fun.. def would get me dancing weird thats for sure. And I will NOT. Apologize.

I love the bouncy boppy feel to this tune with some spunky snaps in the back.  I’m a sucker for unique sounds and I don’t even know what that instrument is but it’s pretty killer.  JSTJR (pronounced “Gesture” Remember what I said about no vowels?!) has a lot of fun ass shit that you can twerk to, without feeling guilty because it’s not Jersey (sorry.) Or you can NOT twerk and maybe do that head bob thing. Either way, JSTJR is that perfect combo of freaky dance with BAAASSSS. He definitely belongs at a Mad Decent Block Party.

ART: Zhu – Faded

So yesterday, MrSuicideSheep  (https://soundcloud.com/mrsuicidesheep-1) posted this purr worthy song that I’ve obviously been repeating ever since I heard it.  I love sexy songs with underlying tones of darkness.  To me, this song is perfect for that… and totally relatable. How many times have I thought this, and the only thing stopping me was that I couldn’t drive… due to that whole “faded” thing… Kinda ironic.  Love it! Had to make a lyrics piece to it!
