Don’t Fight It November 11, 2014Jules 1 CommentToday was cloudy and gloomy… I freakin LOVED every freakin SECOND of it. To celebrate, I listened to this seductive mellow jam right here. I love the floating haunting vocals with dreamy synths that just take you away… so much so, that at about 2:51 I start to feel like I’m getting hypnotized by that beautiful swell of sound. Seekae’s remix doesn’t drift too far from the original (which is a dark gorgeousness in and of itself) but I like this twist on it… kinda adds a slower Trentmoller feel. Exquisite!! And the original! Phaeleh, Auditory Canvas, sAuce and //HANNAH// October 8, 2014admin 1 CommentJules and I caught the Phaeleh show with Auditory Canvas, sAuce and the Do Lab’s DJ invitational winner HANNAH at Project Club Los Angeles in Hollywood. It was our first time there and I seriously love this venue! Their sound system perfectly suited the low, emotive bass that this line up provided and the brilliant LED display complemented the chill vibes. A lovely evening with these talented artists. I’m particularly interested in seeing what’s to come from HANNAH and can’t wait to attend another show at Project LA. Blues Baby September 26, 2014Jules 1 CommentAwwww yyyeeeaaa!! Some bad ass blues-y business goin on here. I love the trippy effects at the intro that blossom into some groovy gravelly bass carried through the rest of the song. It’s a perfect seasoning for sampling those blues lyrics. There’s a slow motion, stoned kind of feel that just makes you close your eyes and smiiiiiile. This beauty right here is a collaboration of Adam Deitch (drummer for Pretty Lights), Break Science, and Manic Focus. You can definitely hear the signature sounds of each artist melding into a rather fine specimen for the electronic music world! I’ve been on an Ambassadeurs kick since seeing him open for Odesza at the Fonda this past Saturday. He was the PERFECT pairing with Odesza and really brought his A game.. def walked away with a bazillion new fans I’m surrrrre of it. This jam definitely takes you on a lovely internal journey. At 7 minutes you’d think that might drag but the quiet build is transcending and hypnotizing. I love the hollowed vocals and soothing background sounds with a soft hum of bass. The sexy chill vibe of this song is kiiiinda outta control. The mellow bassline with the perfect amount of reverb and repetition makes me wanna run an ice cube down my neck in slow mo… (or better yet, down Shakira’s neck.) I even love the wolf howling at the intro and bidding us farewell to some delightful crickets! And I can think of no better way to end this sultry sweetness.
