Vô Lá

I heard this one on KCRW last week Vô Lá from Brazilian rapper Karol Conka. The Portuguese rapping sounds really cool with it’s crunky, trapy, R&B beat. The male back up vox have an old victrola recording vibe and I’m digging the down spiraling high pitch distorted beep trails .18.

Kumbaya

Okay, there need to be more songs like this in the world! Don’t Wait from Mapei out of Stockholm Sweden. Hollow with vinyl crackle, finger snaps, hand drum, and simple strumming, just lovely. The electrolarynx effect on the back up vox is super interesting as well. This one needs to hit top 40, with everyone singing along. I’m thinking Prom theme, graduation ceremonies. Here’s the new video, you guys watch, I’mma go cry by a bond fire or something.

Feelin’ Falsetto

So Giraffage decided to remix The Dream’s 2007 album “Love Hate” and I’m thinkin that was a real good decision.  Each song has a chill smooth vibe to it that’s perfect for a Sunday afternoon.  You can throw this on and just feel good.  Maybe make a sandwich or maybe just sketch a quick realistic portrait of Morgan Freeman.

I gotta say my fav song is Falsetto. Why? Obviously the chipmunk voice.  If you add that in there, I will swoon and blog about it…but don’t get me wrong, it has to be a TASTEFUL chipmunk voice.  This is all about taste here folks.  Well done Giraffage, well done.

Seriously, if you're Kyle Lambert you can whip up this rough sketch of Morgan to this album.
