Moon and Starfire

After a beautiful night in the desert, getting my trance dance on and howling at the full moon, I’m spending a relaxing Sunday listening to David Starfire’s new album Awakening. It has all the sitar, funky world and hand drum beats that I was hoping for, like in his collaborations with Dub Kirtan Allstars, but this album is definitely a fresh start. Uplifting, intense and climatic with glitch hop and psydub influences, it’s perfect for the current Zeitgeist. I’m also excited to see his set at the next A~Bun~Dance in August.

Game Changer

I have heard people rave about Lucent Dossier for years and I finally got the chance to see them at Lightening in a bottle in May and let me tell you, I get it. I also get why they call it an experience, that really is the best way to describe it.  It’s beyond a traditional circus  performance, though the acrobatic, aerial and fire art skills rival that of Cirque De Solie, their powerful electronic music foundation puts them in a league of their own. Awakening would be my favorite if I had to choose, but it’s a total package and you must see the whole show to get the full effect in all it’s splendor.
If you haven’t had a chance to catch them, take note of their newly added Summer tour dates; They will be performing in Las Vegas at the House of Blues on Friday July  25th and Saturday July 26th at Club Nokia.

life is a playground

I’ve really been enjoying Cyantific lately, I guess you could say I’m on a bit of a Drum&Bass kick again. This is so dope, just take a listen. A deadly bass line with a little hand drum keeping right up in Type A, an utterly possessive beat and bass combo in Hard Times and just when you thought Ogre voice was gone, it’s not; Oooh, aaah.

House Partay!!!

It’s the 4th o’ July and I don’t give a ffffuuuuuuuuccckkkk!  Sorry wait, if I was a trap star I would say “ffffvvvvvvvck”. Then I am instantly cooler.

Speaking of trap, I’m sort of definitely in love with this trappy hard house hybrid right here.  Such bass!!! Much heavy! Those well timed “woo’s” just git me man.  They complete me, really.

I definitely made a crazy hard playlist for this 4th and this is the leading song for it.  GET YO JAM ON!!!!

Get shwastey today and think of me:

Daily Daydreams

Just about a year ago I saw this fella, Popeska, was playing at Avalon’s: Control. I checked his shit out and was blown away.. it was so hard, catchy, and well executed.  I had a feeling this guy was only going to excel, and I still believe that.

SUPER stoked to be a fan of his noise now especially because he’s giving away a free song every single day this month.  Judging from this song, I am just dying to eat up e’ery damn song e’ery damn day  and it’s only day 2. July is now my fav month.   What I love about this song is the drifting beginning, beautiful vocals, steady beat and breaks.  Aptly named: Daydream, this song will take you away.

Art – Grimes

Latest lyrics piece since I’ve been on a huge Grimes kick lately.  I don’t understand how a human can get a voice so sweet and so high and unearthly.  One thing I LLLLOVE about Grimes is her ability to be sweet and at the same time kind of disturbing.  There’s this tainted innocence about her that I was trying to get with this piece… Damn I love twisted shit.

Please show da love and like my Facebook page, there’s more details there: www.facebook.com/julessenecalart

Balearic Bass

SPL’s ability to blend the nastiest beats and most tragic drops with beautiful, tranquil melodies is untouched by anyone else. Puerto Rico, Hypnotizing and Don’t U Leave Me are my very favorite tracks, in that order. These sounds do something indescribable to my brain. He is definitely one of my top five favorite producers. I started listening last year and had one of the most fun nights of my life at his King King show in December. I participated in an epic Sunday morning sunrise dance session to the Balearic Bass album just a couple weeks ago and I can’t wait to do it again at his set this Friday night at 333 Live with Stickybuds, J*Labs and Orphic.
