ART – Mt. Eden, At Night October 8, 2014Jules 2 CommentsSo recently I tweeted about Mt. Eden’s latest masterpiece, “At Night”. Now usually for my lyrics pieces there are, well, LYRICS I incorporate into the art but I don’t think that should restrict what I create art inspired by. If a song takes me away… that’s all that matters. So, for the latest lyrics piece I had to choose Mt. Eden. This song is so beautiful and delicately woven together. There’s a sense of mystery, wondering, and journey that really captures my attention. When I close my eyes, I feel like I’m standing at the edge of a huuuuuge cliff, and hundreds of feet below are crashing waves and the wind is so strong I can lean over the edge against it… (Pretty much, I am Pocahontas, let’s be real.) But, that’s what music does, it takes you to a place far away. Mt. First you got me hooked with that echoey chipmunk voice and melodic dubby feel, then you bust in with this dude’s glorious glorious voice preaching outstanding lyrics to live by? But wait there’s MORE! Now to contrast this glorious man voice we toss in Anna Yvette’s whispery swoons. DONE. I’m done. This song has similar qualities to Seven Lions but isn’t a direct rip-off like so many other songs I’ve heard. Balearic Bass June 26, 2014Summer 1 CommentSPL’s ability to blend the nastiest beats and most tragic drops with beautiful, tranquil melodies is untouched by anyone else. Puerto Rico, Hypnotizing and Don’t U Leave Me are my very favorite tracks, in that order. These sounds do something indescribable to my brain. He is definitely one of my top five favorite producers. I started listening last year and had one of the most fun nights of my life at his King King show in December. My Funeral June 17, 2014Jules 4 CommentsThe Funeral, by Band of Horses is one of the most moving songs in the entire Universe. Granted, I do say this about quite a few songs but seriously I mean it for this one! And the only thing as good as The Funeral by Band of Horses, is the remix that Butch Clancy exploded my face off with…. until THIS. THIS my friends… sounds like a glorious spawn between EMBRZ and Sound Remedy. And actually, the bass has a hint of Bassnectar’s older stuff. SUCH FEELS! SO BEAUTY!!!!!!! I want this played at my funeral just so everyone will cry a lot. (Because I am cruel and evil.) I’m super impressed, with just over 1200 soundcloud followers and only 3 songs posted so far, they’ve got some real talent and I can’t wait to see where it goes!!! I love beautiful melodic vocals and when you get the right effect on em, it’s just heavenly. Sol Rising definitely NAILED it.. starting with the ethereal echoes leading into a sick bassline and gettin glitchy wit it! This song has got some serious flow to it.
