Don’t Fight It

Today was cloudy and gloomy…  I freakin LOVED every freakin SECOND of it.  To celebrate, I listened to this seductive mellow jam right here.  I love the floating haunting vocals with dreamy synths that just take you away… so much so, that at about 2:51 I start to feel like I’m getting hypnotized by that beautiful swell of sound.  Seekae’s remix doesn’t drift too far from the original (which is a dark gorgeousness in and of itself) but I like this twist on it… kinda adds a slower Trentmoller feel.  Exquisite!!

And the original!

The Best Gift

Oh bebe… this is just right!  I’m on a gritty kick recently and this song hits the spot.  I was hesitant at first with the house-y intro but you gotta just wait for the drop because you NEVER KNOW RIGHT?!?!  I was glad I waited on this one because I am super digging the hard raunchiness, as it was very welcome after the techno-esque beginning.  Def think it’s a great build with a good switch up for sound.  2:15 to the second drop has a Daft Punk (Tron soundtrack) feel to me which I think is a nice touch.  One thing that could add to it would be to play with the second drop a little more, add in some fresh sounds, samples or effects.  Overall, it’s a real good song to jam out to and will absolutely get you hooked!  Excited to see what these guys come up with next!!

All Mine

Errybody loves Beyonce.  Not errybody loves remixes, BUT, this one’s a surprising doozy!  This song gets you going with some lovely piano keys and a teasing subtle thump.  I was vibin’ to it, and THEN! ALLUVASUDDEN! It drops at 1:27 with a mega switcharoo: plucky hollow pops transitioning to some gnarly grittyness at 1:45 and I was jjjaaammmin’!!!!  Such surprise! So glorious!!  And I am obsessed with the echoey vocals trailing to the finish.  Beautiful.

Keep it Midnight

An-Ten-Nae’s new duo with Releece is really nailing the sexy throbbing bass… but they have been since day one!  Their latest right here is no exception.  This bassline is so seductive with a heavy bounce that belongs in the bedroom.  Sensuality drips from every ounce of this song, from the very beginning with its body-rolling rhythm, throaty vocals paired with angelic cries and teasing build that’s got me gripping the edge of the bed.

I really appreciate how Dimond Saints knows how to command a song and feed it with quiet burning energy, an amazing alternative to a club banger, but still lends the ability to get absolutely filthy on the dance floor! Grinding is the old school twerking after all… let’s get back to our roots people!!!

Sweetly Addicted

Ohhhhh glorious melodic bass how I adore thee! Oh sweet haunting female vocals, how I ALSO adore thee!!!  This fresh new jam right here has that beautiful combo of both.  Nyxx has an angelic voice with an Ellie Goulding quality, the way it drifts over the deep bassline; while the general style of the song has a hint of Seven Lions’ magical sounds.   The lyrics are super catchy and this girl’s got a powerhouse set of pipes to boot!

Originating from Boston MA, Nyxx is launching her career in LA  just two years ago.  Keep an eye out for her EP, dropping in December, because we definitely will!

ART – Mt. Eden, At Night

So recently I tweeted about Mt. Eden’s latest masterpiece, “At Night”.  Now usually for my lyrics pieces there are, well, LYRICS I incorporate into the art but I don’t think that should restrict what I create art inspired by.  If a song takes me away… that’s all that matters. So, for the latest lyrics piece I had to choose Mt. Eden.

This song is so beautiful and delicately woven together.  There’s a sense of mystery, wondering, and journey that really captures my attention.  When I close my eyes, I feel like I’m standing at the edge of a huuuuuge cliff, and hundreds of feet below are crashing waves and the wind is so strong I can lean over the edge against it…  (Pretty much, I am Pocahontas, let’s be real.)

But, that’s what music does, it takes you to a place far away.
