Scare Me March 4, 2014Jules 2 CommentsI’m absolutely loving the eerie yet dancey vibe this beat is drummin’ to! Being able to balance and blend unique sounds is a craft for sure and Rude Kid is damn good at it. That piano plus the gritty bass and subtle vocals? YES. Going through his sounds he mixes in that sweet wubby wub with hip hop, bass, grime, darkness, and funk. He has an edgy sound for sure, always creepin in with a dark undertone that makes you wanna slither on the dance floor. With the inflation of electronic music you really need a unique signature style to rise to the top and I can’t wait to see Rude Boy get there! Breakfast: The Most Important Meal February 27, 2014Jules 3 CommentsI can’t speak high enough praises for Zack the Lad… going through his soundcloud was mind blowing, future, funk, trap, eclectic beats.. a whole range! I have no idea how this guy is sneaking by with anything less than 60k followers, with someone this good, There is just no way. So I figured he must be part of something else or someone sneaking around in disguise. Turns out he is also Trolley Snatcha, who’s slangin some sweet beats too, with a much different dubby and bass style. I am so impressed with this guy, I can’t even… Just listen to the crafting and variation from song to song. I can’t pick one so I’ll post two, but after that you just MUST go stalk his soundcloud and don’t forget Trolley Snatcha too!! I would definitely put this guy in a burrito and have it for breakfast… whatever that means. Bass, Eclectic, FutureBassbass, breakfast burrito, future, trolley snatcha, zack the ladShare : Tweet
Can’t Stand Still February 22, 2014Jules 4 CommentsI’ve been a fan of Unlimited Gravity for a while now, but I have to admit I kinda let it drop off the map when I started swimming through the massive sea of electronic music recently. I’m glad he popped back up on my radar with this jam right here! This song kinda has a Phutureprimitive feel to it with a sprinkle of dnb… just a sprinkle, because I can’t handle more than that. Unlimited Gravity does a great job of mixing vocals with the bass and it only gets better as the song goes on, at 5:16 I was quite pleasantly surprised with the variation of sounds that popped on in there! But, he’s from Denver so… obviously he’s good. Bass, DNB"Boss Miller", "Unlimited Gravity", bass, dont stand stillShare : Tweet
Dimonds are a girl’s best friend February 11, 2014Jules 2 CommentsSo, I admit, I’ve been a little late on the An-Ten-Nae train. I only recently became hooked at Burning Man this past year. It was the first night I arrived in Black Rock City so obviously I was obligated to see the sun rise! And thank heaven almighty, because that’s when we stumbled upon An-Ten-Nae reigning mind melting bass upon the desert. After dancing til I thought my legs were made of rainbow marshmellows, I stumbled over to my friend and screamed in her ear “WHODAFUQISTHIS?! WEGOTTAFINDOUT!” (I’m pretty sure I made her ear bleed. ) And the rest is history. Now lucky for us, An-Ten-Nae isn’t a one trick pony. Also part of LowRIDERz, a bassilicious trio, he has now teamed up with Releece to create…(drum roll pleeeease!)… Dimond Saints! If you’re craving deep dark and ridiculously sexy bass with smooth grime then look no further! Dimond Saints has got that handled with remixes of Lorde, Florence, and my fav remix, Jaymes Young’s “Moondust”, each one taking you through a sultry aural journey. In anticipation of their album release, Shingetsu, this Saturday at Lure in Hollywood, I’ve chosen “The Rising” to give you a taste of what you are going to become addicted to. I’m reeeeally feeling this one as it’s incredibly well crafted and makes me feel like I’m floating through space. ALSO!!!! Super stoked to be LIVE PAINTING at this event! I don’t know if I’ll be able to hold still long enough to put the brush to the canvas! This is huge to me because I can’t tell you how many hours I’ve painted to An-Ten-Nae’s Medicine Crunk Mixtape and now I’ll be painting to Dimond Saints live.. can’t even describe how ridiculous this is! Makes my heart go click clack February 5, 2014Jules 3 CommentsI am lovin the grimy sounds and drum breaks in this sweet jam by Buku! The whole song is well put together and flows smoothly. You kinda think it’s gonna hit hard like a club fist pumper but it’s just svelte, like James Bond. (And James Bond would not associate with fist pumpers. ) This song is classy but means dirty business. Also I’m addicted to the sounds at .48.. just can’t stop repeating!! FLY February 2, 2014Summer 1 CommentThis new Kairo Kingdom remix from Stephen Jacobs has got me feeling like I can fly! Don’t worry, he snuck in a little trap sizzle. Vox at 1.42: BLOWING my mind! And if the siren-like buzzes and squeals don’t stand your hair on end, then I don’t know what to tell you… Bass, RemixShare : Tweet
CHARGE! February 1, 2014Jules 4 CommentsIf this song were an animal it would definitely be a dragon charging forth into battle and you’d definitely be riding it. Also, yes, a dragon counts as an animal. I can thank Stephan Jacobs for this find right here since he included it in his recent mix that I posted. This song just popped right out and punched me in the face. Appropriately named Battle Royale it has a very epic feel to it with dark undertones but allows you to get down to it too! Difficult combination to achieve if you ask me but maybe it was easy for him since he studied electroacoustics for two years (seriously? that’s a thing??) However, it’s done him well! Started off as a sound designer at Sonart then began producing music in 2005. Hold onto your face! Bass, TrapApashe, bass, battle royale, hardShare : Tweet
