We know I love Trolley man, so I was pretty stoked to see this shit pop up in my SD stream. Perfect timing too because today is a rare gray day in sunny LA and I was feelin’ all “boohoo, I think I have to wear long sleeves today”. But then I listened to this mix and jammed out in my room til I was pretty sure the temperature reached “bikini-worthy”. Feels like…. April 22, 2014Jules 3 CommentsOK I’M BACK! I know like 6 of you missed me. Sorry, I was out gallivanting at Coachella with Summer then I came down with this sexy Strep throat thing and then I went camping and then I had to see a doctor for the well timed Strep throat thing. (I’m a “sharer” ok?) But hey, I’m human again! Here we go! So, this is a beauty right here. I love me some sexy sultry pouty twisty love songs and this one’s currently at the top of my list! It just makes me wanna roll around on a bear skin rug (faux fur, of COURSE) but still… even if it’s on my paint covered carpet, I will be rolling around on the ground to this. Do you realize how hard it is, to hum in a sexy way? I’ve tried it and it’s a plane crash of a tragedy. Seriously I applaud this song for that and that alone (then again, thank you filters!!!) So I played this on repeat, and when I was done crawling around on my floor I created a lovely vixen, who hopefully makes you wanna crawl around on the floor. House got Soul April 3, 2014Jules 2 CommentsYes, yes I know… I posted a House song. If you know me at all, you know how I feel about House. I swear I could throw up with boredom. I feel like all I can do is bob my head to it and watch everyone else bob their heads. Now, that’s not to say that House isn’t “good”, it’s just a genre that brings me to tears with it’s dullness! So anyways, if I’m posting a House song, it’s pretty much like witnessing a Unicorn leaping out of a liquor store. Talk about surprising! There are exceptions of course and I gotta say, this song is a big one for me. I feel like House can be amazing if it is paired with some beautiful vocals or if it’s bred with another genre to add some spice to it. For this one, I’m diggin the vocals and lyrics so much that the chill beat and sounds are a nice compliment to it. I could happily close my eyes and bob to this one! Soul mixed with House… who knew? 90s Trap?! April 1, 2014Jules 3 CommentsWell aint DIS some shit?! Amazing shit! Firstly, I love 90s music and I don’t care what anyone else says. Secondly, I love good remixes. This is a glorious combo of both!! I’m really diggin that snake charmer sound thrown in there with an appropriate use of high hats. (Sometimes [mostofthetime] trap producers abuse the high hats and that crap just offends the senses. SUBTLETY my friends!!!) I also think it’s cool that they purposely included more than the chorus for lyrics, like many remixes tend to do. It does the original more justice if you ask me. (Thank you SNL for my ancient reference that the kids these days won’t understand) I’m love the catchy beat with chirpy vocals and a subtle delicate piano that just creeeeEEEEeps in and out. Really appreciate the build LION KINGS created with this one, expertly layering in more sounds without being overwhelming or cluttered, which I think is hard to do with a vocal sample like that (chipmunk winnnn!!) Then, like a glorious fart in a spring breeze, the bass drifts away to reveal them lovely piano notes I was diggin’ earlier. Gonna keep an eye on you LION KINGS, I expect much more glory!!
